Why Does Central Oklahoma Need Regional Transportation Now?

Preparing for Growth

Central Oklahoma has experienced growth over the last 10 years that is expected to continue for years to come, with the region’s population expected to reach 2 million residents by 20401. A recent ACOG study projects that regional employment will grow by nearly 50% by 20452.

Transit Data Shows The Time is Now

By 2045, ACOG forecasts over a 30% population growth and 42% growth in daily Vehicle Miles Traveled (VMT) from approximately 34.2 million miles to 46.5 million miles1. Daily delay hours are expected to triple in the same time frame.

Regional Transit - 5:1 Economic Return

APTA studies show a 5-to-1 economic return produced by long-term investment in public transit. That means every $1 invested in public transit drives $5 in return to local economies1. A strong transit corridor provides greater convenience for people to travel between communities, creating new opportunities for housing and tourism.
