Elaine Lyons appointed to ONE Transit Board of Directors
OKLAHOMA CITY – Lyons represents Oklahoma City on the seven-member board comprised of member city representatives
ONE Transit Board Chair, Brad Henry, recently announced the City of Oklahoma City’s appointment of Elaine Lyons as Director to serve on the ONE Transit Board. Her appointment completes the seven-member board with representatives from ONE Transit’s member cities – Oklahoma City, Norman and Edmond.
“Serving on the ONE Transit board combines my experience in economic and workforce development with my passion for growing regional transit for our communities,” Lyons said. “I am honored to be trusted in this role to shape regional transit options for Central Oklahoma residents.”
Lyons brings a strong background in economic development, community engagement and civic improvements to the ONE Transit board. She recently announced her retirement as president of the South Oklahoma City Chamber, a position she has held since 2003 and will continue through Jan. 31, 2027. She also serves as executive director of the South Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce Political Action Committee and the executive director of the Foundation for South Oklahoma City. She is active in the community by serving as a Trustee for the Oklahoma City Riverfront Redevelopment Authority, Earlywine YMCA Council and the Capitol Hill Main Street Advisory Board.
“Elaine is a well-known and respected leader throughout Oklahoma City. Her knowledge of the needs of South Oklahoma City residents will be invaluable as we continue work to bring commuter rail, regional bus rapid transit and light rail to Central Oklahoma,” Henry said.
The seven-member ONE Transit board of directors governs the activities and initiatives of ONE Transit. Directors are volunteer community members, appointed by the cities they represent. Each member city mayor nominates a director, who is then confirmed by the member city council. Based on population, Oklahoma City appoints three directors while Norman and Edmond each appoint two. Lyons will serve alongside Henry and Treasurer Aaron Curry in representing Oklahoma City.
